An awards night acknowledging the outstanding work of WA’s Community Resources Centres (CRCs) was held during this year’s CRC state conference which started on September 1 at the Fremantle Esplanade Hotel.

Four awards were presented at this year’s conference – three recognising excellence within an individual CRC and one recognising excellence amongst a group of CRCs working collaboratively across the Network.

The winner of the Management Committee Collaboration Award was the Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Resource Centre for outstanding governance, cooperation and support particularly in achieving the construction of a brand new facility.

Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Resource Centre (formerly Telecentre) provides our community with access to technology, information and other services.

People driving down Paterson Street will notice progress is happening rapidly on the new Community Resource Centre. The construction phase is ahead of schedule and will shortly be at lock up stage with the internal fit-out commencing soon after.
The Shire will soon be starting the car-parking and landscaping in preparation for the opening which we anticipate to be in the later part of July and hopefully by the Deputy Prime Minister - Julia Gillard.

We are also seeking local artists who can make a contribution towards the centre.

Feedback from our clientele is extremely positive and Community Resource Centre staff are looking forward to the completion of the new centre so we can continue expanding our programs to the community and business sector.

The Community Resource Centre offers Internet/Email Access, Photocopying, Secretarial and Business Services, Video-Conferencing, Meeting Room Hire, Medicare, NGALA, TransWA, Employment Directions, National Park Passes, Calm Wood Permits, Tourism Information and much more.

Funding for this initiative came from the Commonwealth Government ICET program, Investing in Community Education and Training.
